Recently I was lucky enough to be invited to the Read3rz Review mini conference in Sydney. It was wonderful to be surrounded by such passionate readers, authors and illustrators.

Something I found very exciting (possibly as I remember the world pre-internet), was the new ways that these readers share their love of books.

Melbourne based Vlogger, Miranda and Sydney Blogger Annie both treated us to an overview of their mediums of choice. Miranda covers the event in her 9.10.16 Bookss101 VLOG entry, their discussion takes place about six minutes in.

The Vlogger: Miranda runs You Tube Channel Bookss101, through which she publishes short entertaining videos of her daily adventures and features many book reviews.

The Blogger: Annie and a core group of book lovers, post their written reviews through Read3rz Review blog. They also make good use of social media to conduct group readings of books, run book shop crawls and host reading review meet ups.

It was lovely to meet comic book writer and artist Queenie Chan and PanteraPress authors B. Michael Radburn, Wanda Wiltshire and independent authors Catherine A Wilson and Catherine T Wilson (yes they share a name, that’s actually how they met).

After a delicious lunch we headed down to my old haunt Galaxy Bookshop which now lives above Abbey’s Bookshop, rather than the basement that I remember. The PanteraPress authors took a break from signing their books to participate in Annie’s Q&A session with four Cohesion Press authors.

Once again Miranda captures this in her Vlog and it’s well worth a look.

A big thank you to Susan Hando from PanteraPress for taking me under her wing, Annie for organising a wonderful event and all the participants for their warm welcome and enthusiasm!

PS. If you’d like to see the first time I speak publicly about my novel, Mnemosyne’s Daughter it’s about five minutes in:-)
